Maybe you feel weighed down by family stories or maybe you feel curious and loving; either way, you sense there is a deeper, more nuanced way to understand your elders and ancestors.
Are you feeling climate-crisis grief as well as grief over the losses of migration and assimilation?
Are you longing to reconnect to body-centered and earth-honoring traditions?
Who is this for?
Anyone interested in family stories, collecting oral history interviews, memoir writing, genealogical research, and ancestral lineage healing.
What will we do?
We will cover somatic practices for growing our capacity to be with change; guided ancestral reconnection; oral history ethics and effective practices; ritual, song, altar tending, and other attunement practices; check-ins and feedback for your ongoing projects. The specific curriculum/agenda will emerge based on the needs of the group and the cultural wounds we are most drawn to address (ie capitalism, extraction, disconnection, human supremacy, loss of animism, white supremacy, colonization, religious trauma, gender-based oppressions, abelism, climate crisis, grief).
This online gathering will serve as an anchor for your family history projects and resiliency practices.
Why work with me?
This is an experimental offering at the intersection of oral history, memoir, genealogical research, ancestral reconnection, and politicized somatics.
In 2020, I took a step back from teaching oral history in order to recalibrate my praxis. You can see some of my previous public history work here. Now, I’m excited to hold this new space together and see what emerges.
